a foggy beach

Posted by Becky (los angeles, United States) on 27 June 2012 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

I'm in a strange mood... kind of like this image... :)
Actually there is some truth to that. I've noticed that I often pic pics that are representative of my state of mind - or spirit. Guess I'm a little foggy with a chance of black and white today.

LauraS from Chico, United States

I think this is very artistic, maybe foggy in some respects, but more artistic, I think, very creative.

@LauraS: thank you dear Laura

The Mouse from Bagneres de Luchon, France

I never thought of pictures reflecting a state of mind but I suppose they do, I know this feeling well.
Great shot, reminds me of an old war picture, I know it shouldn't but it does!

27 Jun 2012 6:50am

@The Mouse: Ah-ha, yes - I see what you see - the old war pic. interesting

Sue-Ann from Quebec, Canada

was it overexposed, the treatment is very nice on this picture...

27 Jun 2012 2:45pm

@Sue-Ann: Thank you. It really was completely foggy. Just turned up the curves, detail and such to give it this feel.

RBL from Oxford, United States

Great image and effect; I like your caption too!

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

We all need our foggy times, life would be unbearable if it was always in 3d sparkley-o-vision

27 Jun 2012 3:55pm

@CElliottUK: ... and that is the truth!

Christine from Ellemford, United Kingdom

Having read The Mouse's comment, the war theme sticks in my mind too. A superb image

k@ from Paris, France

I like the ink feel here, and foggy mood might be a pause, before all clear up again, when the body and Mr Brain ask we stop thinking for a lil' while and breathe the atmosphere. All is a matter of time... and weather report ;) Patience and i can see some sun coming back to color & enlight you whole. Circle of moods*

27 Jun 2012 8:07pm

@k@: : ) Yes. These are good words to live by. Thanks K!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

That's a fair warning! I do enjoy the photo though.

BlindPoet from Whangarei, New Zealand

I can relate...........and its good that our images do mirror us internally sometimes. Well always I think. For me my camera is kind of like a paintbrush, of what I see and feel...........and also like a microscope that shows my heart and soul. I love this image........the graininess and especially the people disolving into the distance...........sometimes thats just what I want to do......well done

28 Jun 2012 4:14am

@BlindPoet: Thank you for your response, Blindpoet. Wonderful thinking/ feeling thoughts . : )

rick from brisbane, Australia

Just reading some of the comments and I too instantly thought of a war scene like something out of Cambodia or Vietnam. It has that war correspondent graininess to it.

28 Jun 2012 6:52am

@rick: AH Yes - it is the graininess - you're right. Interesting.

k@ from Paris, France

Reminded me of this one i also loved so much and your words in the caption were so true too... Superb are your foggy moods (some have shitty ones only ;))

28 Jun 2012 6:55am

@k@: OH yes - you are right - same place - same fog. : )

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I like this, it's as though its been stripped down to the bare essentials, binary, on or off, black or white.

28 Jun 2012 8:14am

@Curly: I like your description so much.

Joyce from Montana, United States

Clever you! I enjoy your descriptions. I actually really enjoy foggy beach days, the gray green flat quiet water. Why does the surf get kinda slow and sluggish in fog?...or is my memory a little foggy. Up here in the Rockies we are hot dry and scared silly of fire right now.

28 Jun 2012 1:51pm

@Joyce: Interesting about the surf. Good question, I think your memory is right on. It's so hard when that dry weather hits your place. My friend in Big Bear goes through the fire season with fingers crossed every year - and many times has to evacuate and hope that all will still be there when she returns. Let's hope the season passes quickly for you and all stays safe.

Othersideblue from Kerman, Iran

amazing image presentation of your current mood in b&w here, Becky!

I know what you mean.. feel exactly like this sometimes. Fortunately mood is temporary

A dramatically different style of image. My thoughts are with those members of the lost tribe there . . I suppose there was nothing you could do for them.

Etonnant, on se croirait dans un film. Je pense à Full Metal Jacket, je en sais pas pourquoi.
