golf anyone?

Winter in California has been brutal, not because of snow or cold of course, - but because of drought. I walked for miles today and only saw 2 monarch butterflies and a load of dying trees and grasses.
It's astounding to me to not see one living thing among the plant life
and I can tell you I looked very hard. I'm not going to say this is from one thing or another as I have my theories that no one really wants to hear - but I will say it appears a sad state of affairs. There should be more life. There always has been, even in February. Where is it?

A sad state of affairs Becky. For once I am with Robert de Niro on this one, talking on the US and climate change. We seem to have got all your rain over here. Still there are seeds of hope in your picture. The Dandelion is a tenacious beast. Throw a flower on to a compost heap and it will turn to seed before it dies thus propagating itself all over my vegetable beds :0

I see, like grouser, seeds of hope in this macro. We have had plenty of rain and snow. WIsh I could send some your way.

A beautiful image with the warm light. I think the phenomenon you speak of will keep getting worse. We see changes here, too. The Orcas, in Puget Sound, that rely on salmon are starving as the salmon runs dwindle.

It does look like a golf ball, well seen. And great light and colors.
I lived in California for one year many many years ago and loved it. I feel sad reading what you describe about this winter.
