the pitchfork and the rake

Posted by
Becky (los angeles, United States) on 19 June 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I love a tool that is just a tool.
Nothing to plug in to make it go.
Just a basic, simple worker bee -
that feels solid and useful in your hand.

The detail and textures are superbly captured Becky!

It takes a keen eye to make a pitchfork and rake look beautiful and you have done just that Becky. The composition is perfect and I really like the diagonal line separating the light and shadow.

@Bill Brown: Thank you Bill - for such kind words.

I love how you have captured so much in this photo. The stark texture contrast of the flaking paint wall behind the spiky symmetry of the smooth implements, still bearing the evidence of their last 'assignment'.

Great light and detail. I love the title. Sounds like a parable or a fable. The light catches the grain of the wall wonderfully.

these are the right instruments to use when visiting some BP bureaus, right?

@daniela scharnowski: HA! They certainly have some explaining to do.

Wonderful shot ! Liked the words, I agree...such simple and basic types of tools are so much better than the kind that needs batteries or power plugs !

I agree! We have gotten away from the simple way of doing things like our grandparents once did.....I think it's better....You almost never hear of a rake or pitchfork not working!

Super shot - these tools may be at rest now but they obviously have worked very hard for many years.
